Dear Sir, I research soldiers who died on the 1st July 1916 at the Somme. The following short note may be of interest: Re. 17374 L/Cpl L Hiley, KIA 1-7-16, 19th Salford Pals. He was a member of No.1 Platoon, A Company (Ref. Stedman, Salford Pals, 2007, p.273). Only a snippet of information to add, however, if you were looking to research his action on the 1st July 1916 any further, the aforementioned may help in relation to war diaries etc.
Thanks for your comment. I wrote a short post about Leonard Hiley on 6th July 2019 if you are interested in finding it in my Blog. And there were other Hileys/Highleys killed on that day as well.
If it helps your research I am happy to share any information I have on these men, and conversely I would be interested in seeing what your own research has uncovered.
